Valentine's Day may be as commercialized as Christmas.  Each year, thousands of couples go out for a romantic dinner, roses fly out of floral shops and Valentine's Day cards sell quicker than they can be stocked.

In spite of all of the commercialization, there are still cost effective ways to celebrate Valentine's Day and have an enjoyable evening. Romantic dinners at home with a nicely set and decorated table, a good bottle of wine and the person you care about sharing it with you.

Economic hardships often mean that people get more creative about how they celebrate the holidays. Valentine's Day does not have to cost a lot of money in order to be enjoyed by you and your partner or spouse. Enjoy this year with a romantic dinner, music that plays in the background and fun and unique gifts.

The first thing you will need to do to set up a Valentine's Day celebration is to set a date with your favorite partner. Remember, any date will do for a romantic dinner for two!

Keep your menu as simple as possible. While a rack of lamb or crown roast may seem like a good idea, they take a lot of preparation. Don't be worn out before you sit down to enjoy dinner.

Decorations should be selected carefully. Table linens, flowers or candles, even tableware can add to the theme of the evening. Carefully decide ahead of time what "look" you are attempting to portray and chose your decorations accordingly.

You can control the mood for a romantic Valentine's Day evening by preparing the right lighting, finding the right music and making sure that you are not exhausted from preparing for the evening! Relax and enjoy this evening by doing as much preparation ahead of time as possible.

Make sure that you have all of your preparations done. Make a checklist that covers from appetizers to dessert for your meal, check your sound on your radio/record player and make sure that your wine is ready (room temperature for red, refrigerator cold for white)
